Just a quick reminder that there is Chamber Concert tonight at the Performing Arts Center at Centennial at 7pm. We'd love to see you there!
Also, we have two Pizza spirit nights in February. Just because marching season is over doesn't mean we can stop fundraising! We still have Winter Guard putting in long hours and looking great for their competition season as well as Drum Line practicing hard perfecting their show. Both groups put in as much time and practice during this season as they did during HMA season and the program needs funds for them, as well as keeping a cushion going into next year. Please help us keep things running smoothly!
Fliers are attached for our upcoming Spirit Nights. Come have pizza at Graziano's all day on Feb 2, lunch or dinner, and present the attached flier to earn money for our program. In addition, Colorguard has sponsored a Spirit Night on Feb 11th at Pieology, so you can do lunch or dinner there as well. You can bring the flier or show it on your phone. Also, with Pieology, if we hit $1,000 in sales our percentage of return jumps up to 50%.
Yum! Looks like February is pizza month for our program! If everyone could attend both nights that would be terrific, but as always, please do what you can.
And finally (but very important!), we are hosting an Evaluation Drumline Show on Saturday, February 7th at Centennial, so we will need volunteers to work snack bar, help in the parking lot (getting the groups parked, no paid parking this time), checking groups in, and admission to the show. We need 20 to 25 adults to make the event run well. Please let me know if you can help. I'll have detailed times as we get closer.
Thanks for a great performance yesterday and a great 2014 Husky Marching Alliance season! Congratulations to all our members on being named California State Band Championships Finalists for the 5th time (and 3rd in a row). While our placement was not what we had hoped for, you certainly worked hard and performed as well as anyone on the field. We gave you one of the most challenging shows of the entire day, and you gave the audience something to remember (wait for it…) in their DreamZzzz...
Congratulations to the Class of 2015 on their final competition. Their final season featured a Sweepstakes award at the La Habra Corn Festival Parade, as well the highest division 4 score at our home show and a great final halftime show. The high point of our season, however, was winning Tournament Sweepstakes at the Norco show. That's a moment that we will remember forever!
Thank you to all of our students for working hard all season long; for suffering through rehearsals on perhaps the worst practice field ever; for completing athletic clearance packets for the first time; for checking off the parade march (most of you); for cutting, painting, rolling, and carrying those tarps; for putting up with band director mood swings; for respecting our staff and parents; for changing your schedule to come to extra rehearsals; and for just being really nice, pleasant people who accept each other for who you are.
Thank you to all of the parents who worked hard week in and week out to get us to the competitions, move equipment (especially the "prop studs"), fix uniforms, ride busses, and everything else that goes with being an awesome band parent.
Thank you to the Centennial Band Booster Board for helping us get organized, raise money, and provide logistic support whenever needed.
Thank you to Mr. Gunn, Athletic Director, for our new set of drum heads!
Thank you to Coach Logan for helping us out with field time, and for appreciating us.
Thank you to Mrs. Myerly for being a team player.
Thank you to Mrs. Gaughan for being my sounding board, for helping me to look at all options, and shuttling kids back and forth when I am busy.
Finally, thanks to our own children, Riley and Nathan, for choosing to come to Centennial. They could have gone to their home school, Chino Hills HS, and had some different opportunities, but came with me instead. We've had a great time, and I hope you did, too.
